Good afternoon, ladies and gents. Welcome to the fifth edition of Best of the Rest.
We receive a lot of songs in our inbox every week, like most blogs, and for months, it was incredibly rare for us to post anything that we received, unless one of us had the courage to go through everything. After a while, though, I realized that there are actually a couple quality tunes mixed in with all of that mailing list bullshit. As per the usual, this edition of Best of the Rest will feature my 5 favorite songs that we receive in our inbox. It's all about giving exposure to talented artists.
Hope you enjoy it.
1. The Breadman (USA)
The Breadman- Twinkle Twinkle Lola StarR
I'm not that wild about a lot of dubstep, but that doesn't mean that a lot of it isn't good. This is a filthy brostep (he calls it breadstep, but I'm pretty confident that won't catch on) tune with an overload of bass pulled straight from a Massive preset. Not necessarily my cup of tea, but I figured that a few of you might dig it. Wobble wobble.

2. Luminary Youth (USA)
Luminary Youth- Timeshift Pt 2
Luminary Youth is a phenomenal producer based out of Tampa, Florida. He recently sent us his new EP, Weekend Dreams, a slice of cosmic goodness. He describes himself as a producer of fortune and dreamsequenced beats, which I think is a better description than anything I could come up with, to be honest. Awesome music with a very ethereal hip-hop feel to it.

3. Chip Locke (USA)
Chip Locke- That Good Shit (Prod by PM)
Chip Locke is an underground rapper out of Portland, Oregon. He sent us his mixtape, called Your Neighborhood Drug Dealer, and this cut is the one I dig the most. It's got a rad groove, nice bass, and a chilled out beat. The laid-back lyrics and the smooth flow make this a great smoker's tune.

4. Blaqstarr (USA)
Blaqstarr- Rider Girl (Nadastrom Moombahton Remix)
Neither of these names should require any sort of introduction. Blaqstarr, a Baltimore icon, is one of the most unique artists out there, and Nadastrom is one of the most talented duos making electronic music today. I must admit that it is rather strange to see a remix package for a song that is over 5 years old, but I definitely ain't mad. Dancefloor-decimating shit, seriously. Y'all ain't ready.

5. Hourglass Sea (UK)
Hourglass Sea- Tubbs & Crockett
If you're wondering where you've heard that name before, it's probably due to the fact that we've posted about UK instrumental hip-hop producer Hourglass Sea a few times before. We're definitely fans of his unique steez, and it's always a pleasure to hear one of his new tunes. This Miami-Vice inspired one is a bit heavier than his usual stuff, to be honest, but I dig the shift. It starts off sounding really cinematic and epic, and spirals into a sort of melodic overdrive.
