No rest for the wicked

Well it's been a while has it not?

Woke up this morning with the worst hangover. What a nasty night. Still, a great start to the weekend. As a relatively normal person, I think the best thing to do tonight is go out again. Right?

For our Montreal readers, don't miss the crazy hip hop shows.

First show which I definitely recommend is Pharoahe Monch & Slaughterhouse
I believe Pharoahe Monch needs no introduction, as for Slaughterhouse it's a group composed of Joe Budden, Crooked I, Royce Da 5'9" and Joell Ortiz.
For more info on the event check it out here

That's not all though, DJ Premier and Pete Rock are going to be at Theatre Telus. If your into these guys more than the others then click here

There hasn't been much music on my behalf lately, but my desktop died and most of my music is on it (no worries though my collection is backed up this time). The best I can do for now is to share the few songs I have on my laptop.

Bassnectar- Bass Head (REMOVED BY REQUEST)

Kid Cudi - Day n' Night (BeatauCue When Bitches Want Mainstream)
Yes this song has been over played, heck it's been over everything. I do like BeatauCue though and I've already posted some of his stuff. If you're DJing somewhere and must pull this song out to please a crowd, then please use this remix.

Snoop Dogg - Sensual Seduction (Boys Noize Eargasm Remix)
In my opinion the song should've stayed with the beat from the beginning instead of changing about half way in.

Yolanda Be Cool - We No Speak Americano
This mystery Australian duo kills it with there funky tech house. Super groovy beats which can never go wrong in a party. If you like this keep an eye open for a remix by Dubbel Dutch of their song Villalobos For Presidente.

Chris Lake & Lys - La Tromba (D-Thai Remix)
Seems like this song dates back from 09, but I freakin' love it! Every time I listen to it I'm sure I'm winning something (no idea what I'm winning though).

So Shifty - Peterpella (Sekta vs Kelis)
Kasper Bjorke - Alcatraz (Zombie Disco Squad Remix)
Not too sure how I'm feeling these 2 songs. The vocals are interesting enough to get the song in the post, but I would put a beat a little less weird.

Mustard Pimp - Kiwi
Mustard Pimp - Kiwi (Gigi Barocco Remix)
WOAH the original is good and I was liking it and all, but then I came across a remix by Gigi Barocco and my mind melted.

Enjoy, and contrarily to MDMAwesome I keep my rambling to a strict minimum.

Massive post this fine morn'. As per the usual with Avenge The Virgins.

As you know, we love posting about relatively unknown talent that deserves to be heard. Today's post will focus on two artists, Flirtphonic and Dooze Jackers, both who are starting to gain notoriety for their dope and unique take on electronic music. As always, if you dig what you hear, try and support these guys. They definitely deserve it. While some might not have music to purchase yet, dropping a quick message to tell them that you dig their shit/appreciate what they do is a great motivator for most artists.

on with the show!

FLIRTPHONIC (New York/Seoul)

I mentionned Flirtphonic in last week's post, when I gave you his massive remix of Organ Donor. As previously mentioned, I first got exposed to Flirtphonic's music when he reached out to us by e-mail, asking us to check out his stuff. He also mentioned the fact that his Gifted remix (posted below) had been the most popular song on Hypem for a little while, which is quite a feat for someone who hasn't been releasing music for that long. I don't really give a shit about the popularity contest aspect of hypem, but Flirtphonic makes really fantastic music, so more power to him if he can gain exposure through it.

His sound is a distillation of everything you love about electro: heavy distortion that pounds you in the temples, driving synth stabs, and melodies that ring in your ears after the song is done. ATV approved!

Flirtphonic- Bubble Burst
Flirtphonic- Welcome to the Party
N.A.S.A ft Kanye West, Lykke Li & Santigold- Gifted (Flirtphonic remix)

DOOZE JACKERS (Montreal)

Dooze Jackers are a duo from our very own Montreal, made up of the incredibly talented Techjio (I've mentioned him in the past) and DPV. I am perhaps a bit biased, because I read their now defunct blog Le Mothership regularly for over a year, but their output as Dooze Jackers speaks for itself. They, like fellow Montrealers MadKids, are making big waves in the house and electro scenes, due to their relentless work ethic and crazy bangers. Their "Got Line!" track got love from such big names as Sound of Stereo, Foamo,Jaymo & Andy George. These guys DJ and produce as much as they can, and yet do not let themselves be pigeonholed into any particular genre. Dooze Jackers' songs do fit into the new wave of percussive ethno-house, but they are much more than that. They seamlessly weave an array of influences into one maniacally groovy, booty shake-inducing package. Dope shit you definitely need to support. (NOTE: I've included their latest mix "We're Not High, We Just Like Bangers". Mais c'est débile!)

[P.S. Dooze Jackers are playing at Montreal's THEATRE TELUS on Friday with MadKids, Victor Hacala & Designer Drugs. Guaranteed to be an insane show.]

Party Dark- Is that You? (Dooze Jackers remix)
Canblaster- Kapongo Dance (Dooze Jackers remix)
Noob and Brodinski- Peanuts Club (Dooze Jackers remix)

Vous y êtes !* - Episode 3 (mixed by Dooze Jackers) We're Not High, We Just Like Bangers ! by Dooze Jackers

Dooze Jackers MYSPACE

Of course, being the monstrous turd that I am, I've included more music. The first, a massive dubstep tune that is betting burn from a huge amount of DJs around the world. It sounds like a Zelda song to me, but it definitely bangs. The second, a new tune by AtV favorite RUBIX, who kindly let us share this. Très dope, Mr Rubix. You've done it again.

Doctor P- Sweet Shop
Rubix- Disco Electronique

- MDMAwesome, cramming as much music down your throats as physically possible.

drippy'

Zion I is one groovy lyricist, on this one he gets a bit pop'ish compared to his other stuff but you cant really hate on a summer beat like this one

bring the sun, we ready to vibe

Dem Franchize Boyz (Feat. Lloyd) - Turn Heads

To finish this, here's 3 remixes of Snoop's "I Wanna Rock" single on his Malice CD. You might already have 2 of em but maybe not the Travis Barker G-Mix. You know Travis Barker always delivers on that kinda stuff so download this shit right now.

on the seventh day I rest

mostly summery vibes being posted this afternoon.

Christian Smith & Reset Robot- Air Miles (2000 & One and DJ Madskillz remix)

Afrojack dropped this at WMC. I saw a video of said performance, saw the crowd react, while Afrojack & Steve Angello were grooving and fist pumping in the background. This is a pretty awesome groovy house tune. Just in time for summer.

Gatto Viola- Backstabbin Angie for a Ten Bag (Doc Daneeka re-edit)

Isn't it ironic? All you want to do is smoke chronic.

Elephant Man- Bless We More (Halo dub)

Since the response to Elephant Man's fireflies dub I posted was pretty positive, I figured I'd drop another great dubplate of his. This time, he takes Beyonce's Halo and grinds it into a pile of burning rubble.

Gyptian- Hold Yuh

Every summer has its one-drop reggae anthem. This is 2010's. Gyptian, the mastermind behind 2005's "Serious Times", which beat out Welcome to Jamrock as Jamaican radio's song of the year, has created another classic tune. He has a great voice, and this song gives off a great vibe.

Redman ft Erick Sermon- Whateva Man

C'mon. Do you really need any introduction? Roll it, twist it, light it up.

Elliott Smith- Angeles

One of the best singer/songwriters of all time. This is my favorite song of his, and if this is your first time hearing of Elliott Smith, then you NEED to check out his discography. Passion, pain, and pure talent, rolled into one severely strung out package. Interesting note about his suicide: he stabbed himself twice in the heart.

terribly sorry about the delay.

MDMAwesome.
