Laid Back Sunday #5

Bonjourno, here I am with Laid Back Sunday #5. Once again this post will be featuring some good laid back hip hop that you might have been sleeping on. Let the show begin.

Wale - Nike Boots
1st off with a classic. This is considered one of the first major single from Wale and in my opinion one of his best too. I also really dig the writing font they created for the single's cover. The "spacy" instrumental fits right in with Wale's buttery flow.

Living Legends - She Wants Me
I've talked a bit about the Living Legends crew in the past. This crew is composed of heavy lyricist such as : Sunspot Jonz, Bicasso, Aesop, Murs, Eligh, The Grouch, Luckyiam, Arata & Scarub. The track here called "She Wants Me" has a cool 8bit piano sampled instrumental and the crew delivers perfectly over it. The video is quite good also.

David Banner - Fakin' Azz Hoes ft. The Dogg Pound
I first heard this song off an old David Banner mixtape and immediately got hooked. It got released on the DPG's album right after which is a good thing. Crunk beat.

have a good day

Bibio, fo sho

Credits goes to David MacDowell for the illustration

keepin it short,

Today's post is featuring Bibio, British music producer. He's well reputed for his experimental/lounge vibe. Cool music, I love to play the album(The Apple and The Truth) when I need to relax. Definitely worth your time.
Bibio - The Apple And The Tooth
Bibio - Palm Of Your Wave (Bibio Remix)

And as a random addition here's a track off The Chronic.
Dre n' Snoop. you know the deal, great f u c k i n g song

Dr. Dre feat. Snoop Dogg - Fuck Wit Dre Day

Tanqueray & Chronic

I'm not too sure how you'll all react to this music, but I know you can't hate on a classic from Snoop Dogg (especially with my more than average Paint skills)!

Snoop Dogg - Gin N' Juice

A while back some friends came across a remix of this song. I must warn you, this is probably not your typical remix. Simple piano, relaxing waves and a narrating voice which could only be bested by Morgan Freeman. I just adore this song, it's funny and emotional at the same time. I recently had an urge of listening to it, but I had lost it along with my iPod. So I used my google searching skills, found it pretty fast and I guess that's the reason I'm sharing it with you today.

Gin N' Juice (Acapella Remix)

While I'm at it, I might as well throw in another remix. Once again, I can't blame any of you for hating, but I like it! This time, The Gourds give the song an American Country style remake. Banjo and Texan accent make this song unbelievable (just wait till the solo). who would've expected it...

The Gourds - Gin and Juice

No rest for the wicked

Well it's been a while has it not?

Woke up this morning with the worst hangover. What a nasty night. Still, a great start to the weekend. As a relatively normal person, I think the best thing to do tonight is go out again. Right?

For our Montreal readers, don't miss the crazy hip hop shows.

First show which I definitely recommend is Pharoahe Monch & Slaughterhouse
I believe Pharoahe Monch needs no introduction, as for Slaughterhouse it's a group composed of Joe Budden, Crooked I, Royce Da 5'9" and Joell Ortiz.
For more info on the event check it out here

That's not all though, DJ Premier and Pete Rock are going to be at Theatre Telus. If your into these guys more than the others then click here

There hasn't been much music on my behalf lately, but my desktop died and most of my music is on it (no worries though my collection is backed up this time). The best I can do for now is to share the few songs I have on my laptop.

Bassnectar- Bass Head (REMOVED BY REQUEST)

Kid Cudi - Day n' Night (BeatauCue When Bitches Want Mainstream)
Yes this song has been over played, heck it's been over everything. I do like BeatauCue though and I've already posted some of his stuff. If you're DJing somewhere and must pull this song out to please a crowd, then please use this remix.

Snoop Dogg - Sensual Seduction (Boys Noize Eargasm Remix)
In my opinion the song should've stayed with the beat from the beginning instead of changing about half way in.

Yolanda Be Cool - We No Speak Americano
This mystery Australian duo kills it with there funky tech house. Super groovy beats which can never go wrong in a party. If you like this keep an eye open for a remix by Dubbel Dutch of their song Villalobos For Presidente.

Chris Lake & Lys - La Tromba (D-Thai Remix)
Seems like this song dates back from 09, but I freakin' love it! Every time I listen to it I'm sure I'm winning something (no idea what I'm winning though).

So Shifty - Peterpella (Sekta vs Kelis)
Kasper Bjorke - Alcatraz (Zombie Disco Squad Remix)
Not too sure how I'm feeling these 2 songs. The vocals are interesting enough to get the song in the post, but I would put a beat a little less weird.

Mustard Pimp - Kiwi
Mustard Pimp - Kiwi (Gigi Barocco Remix)
WOAH the original is good and I was liking it and all, but then I came across a remix by Gigi Barocco and my mind melted.

Enjoy, and contrarily to MDMAwesome I keep my rambling to a strict minimum.

drippy'

summer track for that crack

Zion I is one groovy lyricist, on this one he gets a bit pop'ish compared to his other stuff but you cant really hate on a summer beat like this one

Zion I (feat. K.Flay) - Coastin'

bring the sun, we ready to vibe

Dem Franchize Boyz (Feat. Lloyd) - Turn Heads

To finish this, here's 3 remixes of Snoop's "I Wanna Rock" single on his Malice CD. You might already have 2 of em but maybe not the Travis Barker G-Mix. You know Travis Barker always delivers on that kinda stuff so download this shit right now.

Snoop Dogg - I Wanna Rock (Travis Barker G-Mix)
Snoop Dogg - I Wanna Rock (Interstate Trafficking Remix feat. Rick Ross, Yo Gotti, Maino, Rosco Dash & OJ Da Juiceman)
Snoop Dogg - I Wanna Rock (feat. Jay-Z & Ludacris)

BONUS :
Yo Gotti (feat. 8 Ball) - Walkin' In Memphis (Wally Sparks Mix)

Filthy

It's gettin' nasty around here.

New internet phenomenon, The Filth, have been making their way around the blogosphere lately (big ups to Penned Madness). Their first remix of Ludacris' "Go Low" made it onto Hypem's popular page within a few days. Keeping with their style, they followed up by remixing Kid Cudi & Snoop Dogg's new song "That Tree". For those of you who know me, my taste in music is somewhere between Cal's hip-hop and Brigden's electro. Electro hip-hop, could it be?

Ludacris - Go Low (The Filth Remix)

Kid Cudi & Snoop Dogg - That Tree (The Filth Remix)

Headed back to The Filth's MySpace recently and they already have another song up. This time around they tear apart Passion Pit's hit single and turn it into a mad BANGER!

Byneford

my suit is blacknot

Yes yes, its that special time of the week. Hip hop is coming around your corner. In this post ill be focusing on legal hip hop mixtapes. But dont get it twisted, the mixtapes featured in here are no rickross gangsta grezill ones. Each group produced a quality "album" wich they called mixtape since they are giving it for FREE, buuuuut beat quality is there my friend.

1st off, the most known artist of the bunch : Chip Tha Ripper
Mister Chip might be considered a bit more rap-ish then Hiphop but his beat selection for his mixtape "The Cleveland Show" is quite interesting. Loads of electro beats but still comes with great hip hop production like the track produced by one of my favorite producer DJ Hi-Tek. To top it off, there is about 20 tracks in this mixtape, all produced by a bunch of different locals (OHIO) and Chip's friends.

Chip Tha Ripper - Like That

2. Pac Div
2nd mixtape is from Pac Div. A west coast flavor with a lot talent. The mixtape "Church League Champions" was very well received by the rap/hiphop community. With all this hype they were able to reach the ears of The Neptunes, who will produce songs for their upcoming album called "Grown Kid Syndrome". You can compare their sound to similar west coast modern hiphop groups like The Cool Kids or Dom Kennedy. Enjoy, great videos too...

3. 6th sense
6th sense is a raper/producer/DJ from New York. The dude works his ass off to come up with fresh eastcoast hip hop. On his most recent mixtape "Vol 2 & 3", he produced mellow beats on which well known rapers like : Skyzoo, Chip Tha Ripper, The Kid Daytona spit verses.
