prends tes petites pilules

I will be mostly posting Canadian content this evening, in the hopes that you will be exposed to some of the great talent this country has to offer. As well, two of these artists come from our very own city, Montreal. Hope you guys dig this shit.

Hovatron- Rude Boy

Yes, it is a remix of Rihanna's Rude Boy, but unlike most of the ones floating around the blogosphere (fuck I hate that word), the instrumental matches the vocals perfectly. It's on a spacey synthesizer, thumping bass infused r'n'b tip. This is a very recently released track from Montreal's own Phil A.D, also known as Hovatron. I remember seeing him dj as part of the Mofomatronix/Turbo Crunk crew at a show opening for Megasoid/Sixtoo/Speakerbruiser and The Bug at Montreal's defunct club Coda a few years ago. He was playing a lot of electro/bass heavy remixes of rap songs, and was way fucking hyped up. He released his first record as Hovatron a little while ago, and has been producing a lot of quality shit recently. Avenge The Virgins wishes him the best.

Djedjotronic- Feta

Djedjotronic is a fantastic young electro producer out of France. The dude is 22, signed to Boys Noize Records, is deaf in one ear, and started producing after witnessing a Popof set. His output, from remixes to original tracks, is positively mindblowing, and he is getting namedropped by all the right players. This track was in Harvard Bass' March 2010 Top 10 chart, and Pedro Winter (Busy P) has been mentioning his name like crazy, which is always a good sign. Big ups!

John Roman- Martyr

John Roman is a 20 year old out of Toronto, who produces really aggressive electro. Listen to the song, it's a pretty good barometer of his whole sound and swag. Although some may argue that overly distorted and filtered electro is getting old, this guy's music manages to stay relevant. It's probably because it's bloody awesome. That little melody and those keys in the background are fucking haunting, man. This is what a rave in a haunted house must sound like.

JOHN ROMAN MYSPACE

Esser- Satisfied (Egyptrixx remix)

Mesmerizing, chaotic and pounding. The dude posted a Burzum song on his myspace, which automatically gets a few points from me. I dig the black metal aesthetic on his promos and records, and the fact that he's down with the Night Slugs crew (Bok Bok, Kingdom, LVIS-1990) should give you a slight indication of his sound. Demonic Bass Music from Toronto, what's not to like?

EGYPTRIXX MYSPACE

bsbtrgdclub- Super Fusée

From what I can remember, bsbtrgdclub stands for back street boys total rude ghetto dancing club. Composed of two dudes from Montreal, JilliJilli and SuperProPro, bsbtrgdclub make decidedly weird music. I think that "glitchy, warped and raunchy bass heavy club music" is as close to a description of their music as you're gonna get. Czech it out for yourselves!
