l'amour et la liberté

I am in a very pleasant headspace these days. Life is pretty rad. Great friends, great parties, great vibes. Let go of the shit that is dragging you down, and embrace the positivity.

I'll just be posting some tunes that I've been bumping heavily these past few days. As the new year comes along, I'll devote a lot more time to up-and-coming producers, and we will finally drop the new version of the site. If you have any suggestions of things you'd like to see, please let me know.

For now, please enjoy the vibes.

Lulu Rouge- Sweeter Than Sweet
Alex Boman- Purple Drank
Machinedrum- Alaarma
Sinjin Hawke & DJ Sliink- Gas Pump
Bon Iver- I can't make you love me

Occupé

Busy, busy, busy. I'm falling behind schedule, goddamn it. Work is getting in the bloody way of giving you that hot fire. I'll be dropping a bunch of dope profiles in the next few days to make up for this gaping hole in posting.

In the meantime, please enjoy these random tunes.

Bon Iver- Calgary

Brand new tune from the great Justin Vernon. I'm a pretty big fan of Bon Iver, as I think it is one of the most interesting folk projects of the past few years. This new offering is somewhat stripped-down, but very beautiful nonetheless.

Cee-ro- Don't ever be lonely

We posted about Cee-Ro a while ago, and here is another fantastic tune from this hip-hop producer. Chilled-out vibes to soothe your soul.

The Federation- Get Naked You Beezy

Hyphy!

Hyetal- Diamond Islands

Ethereal vocal samples + haunting drum loops + dreamy synths = amazing. I'm having trouble communicating exactly why Hyetal is one of the most exiting new producers in the game, to be honest. It's just an innate feeling. Diamond Islands is sensual and somewhat melancholic. A georgeous tune, to put it simply.

The Chain Gang of 1974- Undercover (Twin Shadow remix)

Great remix of Undercover by one of my favorite acts, those warriors of radness, Twin Shadow. It is a strange remix, a bit all over the place in terms of arrangements, but it still retains the poppy melodies and 80s grooves that Twin Shadow is so well-known for.

Azari & III – Hungry For The Power [Art Department Remix] by PurplePR

Azari & III vs Art Department. Damn, Toronto gets dowwwwwn.

See you tomorrow.

late night fright

Why, hello.

There's a little something for everyone this evening. I'm finishing up the OFWGKTA feature on Wednesday, so keep your eyes peeled and your trigger finger on the refresh button.

For all those that are still up at this hour, here is your reward.

Gyptian- I can feel your pain

Gyptian is the absolute master of reggae love tunes. Nobody really writes hooks like this guy, and the fact that he's had such a huge success with Hold Yuh this summer is totally awesome. I've been a huge fan for years, so it's great to see him getting the attention he deserves. Gyptian makes some of the best baby-making music out there. Try it out. Trust me.

Devin the Dude- Lacville 79

Nobody writes lazy stoner anthems like my boy Devin the Dude. He seems like one of the most humble and laid-back MCs in the game. If you're havin a bad day and are stressed, go ahead and bump some Devin the Dude. I guarantee you'll chill out instantly.

I'm rollin, car not stolen
Probably never will be, it's much too olden
Smokin weed and feelin' fine
in my lacville '79

Bon Iver- For Emma

Great proper acoustic indie folk. For Emma, Forever Ago, the album that this is taken from, is one of the greatest folk albums released in the past 5 years (It was self-released in 2007). Justin Vernon wrote/played all of the songs and instruments for this album, cooped up in a countryside cabin for 3 months in the winter, and the result is/was a masterpiece. Plus, he must be doing something right, because Kanye enlisted his help on a few tracks on his latest opus.

Mumbai Science- Ancova

THIS TAPE WILL SELF DESTRUCT IN 5 SECONDS.

This is a relatively old tune, but a banger nonetheless. Mumbai Science are solid, always delivering great remixes and originals .

Sexion D'Assaut- Désolé

I might catch flak for this one hahaha. I discovered this song a few days ago, and I've been listening to it quite a bit since. I'm not really familiar with french rap, and from what I understand, this stuff is of the mainstream variety, but the hook got me. Catchy beat, simplistic lyrics, and a memorable refrain. The video is not too shabby either. Cal hooks you up with a bloody metric ton of amazing hip-hop per week, so I figured a bit of mainstream silliness wouldn't hurt.

Magnetic Man & Katy B- Perfect Stranger

Sultry female voice + Dubstep = Automatic win, in my books. Nuff said.

nighty night, all.
