Back To Basics Pt. 8

Seems like weekends are a weekly subject for us (no shit...), I mean we go hard. Too much maybe? F*ck it, good birthday party Cal. For those of you who come around the blog once a week to get your musical update pumped straight to your veins, we got that Hip-Hop fix finally. Instead of finding words to describe our weekend excesses which are usually followed by a lack of music, I will you leave with a message from BP CEO: Tony Hayward.

Now on with the music for the love of, well... music. Bunch of classic vibes today: from that legendary Marley anthem on an impeccable Roots instrumental, to Busta spitting an extra verse to QTip's & Kweli's Lightworking (the original from J-Dilla, naturally) who else but Mick Boogie to put this one together on the Dillagence mixtape, onto some classic 2003 Cunninlynguists produced by RJD2 (grab the new Oneirology album fools), and finishing off with some proper weed burnin' music from Lloyd Banks, 50 & Snoop.

The Roots - Burnin' & Lootin' (Performed By Bob Marley)

Andre Nickatina - Hell's Kitchen

Busta Rhymes + QTip + Talib Kweli - Lightworks

Cunninlynguists Ft. Masta Ace - Seasons (Prod. RJD2)

Lloyd Banks Ft. 50 Cent & Snoop Dogg - I Get High

Encore + Fort

Been a long time since my last post. I was held up with all this new apartment stuff going on, but its over and shit will hit the fan for the next months. Ill try to produce more beats and post way more hiphop and some of my other bananas. I promise.

ANYWAY, lets start the show. MDMAwsome's post on Thizz Music got me diggin back in my stash to find some Mac Dre head bangin' track. Mission was a total sucess, back in 2008 a Mac Dre (R.I.P) and Andre Nickatina (remember Ayo for Yayo) collabo album named "A Tale of 2 Andres" came out. If you haven't heard this album yet well run to your nearest interweb machine and go crazy on it. Shit is tight. You can tell the track is going to be good when Mac Dre starts his verse with :
"Now, before I start rapping, I must warn ya'
I just washed down 2 mushrooms with some orange juice,
I was thizzin when I wrote this, forgive me if it goes astray, it's just one of the many dumb flows of dre"
As for Smoov E featured on the track, I can't really put a word to describe how he fucking destroys the beat. His flow is "like a slice of butter... melting on top of a big-ol' pile of flapjacks... yeah."
Mac Dre & Andre Nickatina - Hot Jalapenos

2nd one is off the new Slum Village's album "Villa Manifesto". I listened to the album and to be honest with you, coming from me, a big dilla\slum village fan, I was quite disappointed... I'm not that up to date with the Elzhi beef and shit but from what I heard they removed all the verses he did for the album, which is fucking stupid. Slum Village had a good run but with Dilla and Elzhi out of the story, its not the same thing. Anyway this beat is still very good, pretty much my favorite of the whole album. It also features one of my favorite duo; Little Brother. Chill beat.
Slum Village - Where Do We Go From Here Ft. Littler Brother

3rd and last one is a bit off date since its a collabo that was made to bash about the Bush government and the beginning of the war in Irak. BUUUUUT when you have KRS-One, Mobb Deep, Everlast, Mack 10, B-Real of Cypress Hill, and I might forget 1 or 2, rappin on the beat, it cant really go bad. I don't have to introduce any of these guys, just seeing all those names should give you the urge to listen to this track.
Krs-One, Mobb Deep, Mack 10, Everlast, B-Real from Cypress Hill - Dear Mr. President

see you next time

my squad stay on point

[edit: that shit was sappy. It's all about the music, anyways. All I have to say is thank you for reading, for your support and for sending us your stuff. You guys are the best]

Tonight's post will feature a few of my favorite songs, as well as two new tracks. You get the classics, and still get to stay on the forefront of dopeness.

San Quinn ft Andre Nickatina- Ayo for Yayo

Guys, if you've never heard this song before, take the next 3:27 of your life, drop everything you're doing, and just listen. San Francisco legends San Quinn and Andre Nickatina spit the truest knowledge you've ever heard: a cautionary tale about the pitfalls of that ol' white girl.

Jedi Mind Tricks ft R.A. The Rugged Man- Uncommon Valour

R.A. The Rugged Man's verse (the second one) is often called one the greatest verses of all time. I'm not convinced, but his double time rhyming is brilliant. His father was a Vietnam veteran, so his tale probably has a very personal element to it. The intensity of the emotion he spits honestly gave me shivers. Stone cold classic.

Mogwai- Hunted by a freak

Monumental post-rock from Scotland. This is serious stargazing shit; meandering melodies, ethereal vocals and a heavy backdrop. Loved getting stoned to this stuff back in the day ahaha.

Zakolski- DOG (Original Mix)

This is a reader's submission, a mysterious "graphic artist gone bad" out of Sweden. He categorizes this song as "wobble house", but I prefer "rabid-pitbull house". The songs he sent us were quite good, you should definitely check out more of his stuff. Aggressive and propelling melodies seem to be his trademark. Woof.

Zakolski Myspace

Green Velvet ft Santiago & Bushido- Turn it up

Green Velvet is a house and techno legend who deserves much more respect and recognition than he has gotten. Santiago & Bushido collaborate with him to craft this ridiculous piece of magic. Mere words cannot describe its effect on the human body. This shit has pandemic potential.

Have a pleasant evening, you crazy motherfuckers.
