the single most beautiful video on Youtube



Leon Russell wrote "A Song for You" in 1970, and it is one of the most covered songs of all time. Donny Hathaway, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, etc, and many more have added their own touch to this song. This video shows Willie Nelson's 70th birthday party, with Leon Russell, Willie Nelson and Ray Charles performing "A Song for you", and Ray Charles' interpretation is so unbelievably moving that Willie Nelson is brought to tears. Ray Charles died shortly thereafter, so one imagines he was singing that song about all his lost friends and the lost loves of his life.

Not sure if you guys will dig, but in my opinion, this is one of the most moving performances I have ever seen in my entire life. Ray Charles transmits such intense grief and happiness at the same time, and it almost brings you to tears. Music is meant to have a soul. I might listen to a lot of dance music, and I am completely unapologetic about it, but my absolute favorite music, no matter the genre, has to transmit emotion and passion. It is a shame that these simple elements are so lacking in a lot of today's music.
