It's finally over. Given that this is the last part of this short-lived segment, I went slightly overboard on the amount of songs posted. Hope you enjoyed the ride.

Mac Dre ft Mac Mall & E 40- Dredio
A thizz music post would not be complete without the presence of the late Godfather of hyphy and thizz, Andre Hicks. Mac Drizzy was one of the rare figures in rap music who was both respected in the streets, and completely fuckin' goofy. His raps could go from gritty tales of selling crack on street corners, to staying in a hotel room and eating magic mushrooms with orange juice.

Young Dro- All that money
Personally, I wouldn't recommend popping beans at a strip club, but Young Dro seems to have a different opinion on the subject. Personally, I like to either go on crazy adventures with my friends or go see a DJ, but this Atlanta rapper much prefers to throw stacks of money at stripper's asses while under the influence of MDMA. Hm, don't knock it til' you've tried it, I guess.

Bavgate ft Black Mafia Family- Smoke wit me
This song's subject matter actually has nothing to do with thizzing at all, really. It just personifies that laid back attitude that the west coast is best known for, and it just sounds bloody smooth.

Jackie Chain ft Jhi Ali- Rollin
Probably the greatest song about rolling (which, for the punters, means tripping on extasy pills) ever written, in my opinion. Incredibly accurate verses (these dudes know their subject matter quite well haha) and a classic beat that samples, amazingly enough , the classic trance tune Children by Robert Miles. Jackie Chain and Jhi Ali from Paper Route Records created this southern rap classic a few years ago, and though it received a lot of press and blog attention, not nearly enough people know about this gem. It's the type of tune that can be enjoyed by anyone who enjoys thizzin', not just rap aficionados. Oh, and the chorus is actually sampled from the original version of the tune posted below, if you didn't know.

Purple, yellow, green, man, I don't give a fuck, I got the whole rainbow inside a styrofoam cup.

Gucci Mane- Pills (Proper Villains remix)
Sampling the Counting Crows' Mr Jones is a gamble that totally pays off in this case. I'm a big fan of the original tune, but this remix takes it to the next level. Proper Villains turn Gucci Mane's pill popping anthem into a 4 a.m. bass heavy creeper. Hearing Adam Duritz's voice, pitched the fuck up, is actually somewhat soothing, strangely enough.

Messy Marv & Guce ft Daz Dillinger- So Hood (remix)
Bullys Wit Fullys meets the Dogg Pound gangster. So Hood is more of a gangsta tune that a hyphy anthem, but the beat was produced by E-A-SKI, who produced a shitload of hyphy tunes back in the day, so you can still hear the influence of that bouncy Yay Area sound.

BONUS (of sorts)

Well, given that the Proper Villains remix samples that Counting Crows song, I just had to check out the video again. I hadn't seen it in years, and let's just say that I rediscovered Adam Duritz's epic dances moves. It honestly looks pretty close to what Bay Area hyphy/turf dancing and going dumb looks like, so I'll throw it up here for your viewing "pleasure". You're welcome.

You know the routine. I post music that sounds great when you're geeked and thizzed up on those little bags of smiles you get at your local pharmacy. You love it/hate it. Just another day at Avenge The Virgins. Our apologies for the extreme lack of posting. Twas a really rough weekend. Let's get back into it.

San Quinn ft E-A Ski- Hell Yeah

San Quinn is mostly known for his raw and gritty street tales, like the infamous 'Ayo For Yayo', but when hyphy was in its prime, he couldn't help but hop on a few bangers to show his love for the Bay Area. This E-A Ski-produced tune was the epitome of hyphy production, in that its over-the-top synth makes it the perfect kind of bouncy soundtrack to go dumb to. Peter, you know what I'm talkin about.

E-40- Dumb Hyphy

Mr Forty Water is a Bay Area legend, and the originator of a ridiculous amount of stupid slang. He's also one of the most polarizing figures in rap music, because of his extremely odd flows and punchlines. However, the man who started his career as one third of The Click, a bay area gangster rap group in the late eighties, is also one hell of a rapper. He has earned his stripes in underground hip-hop, and has also enjoyed a degree of mainstream success. Not only has he collaborated with an extremely large number of rappers, he also almost had the Notorious B.I.G killed. You read that right. To quote E-40, "I used to sell tapes out of my truck and slang 'caine/Respected in the streets before the fame/Ain't nothing lame or goofy about my game". The Bay Area doesn't mess around.



Boyz N Da Hood- Bite Down

Pop a bean, bite down.

Gosh, Gorilla Zoe, how poetic. I couldn't have put it better myself. This was the best tune on that album, in my opinion, a gruff ode to ze drugs. If you've ever found yourself grinding your teeth when geeked up, you now have a new expression to teach all of your friends.

The Pack- Robocop

Young L beats = Fruity loops from the future. The original based boys made some of the weirdest Bay Area rap back in Hyphy's heyday. Dudes were in outer space, just waiting for the rest of the world to catch up.

Are you a Narc?

Nah? Well, I figured that while I'm on this ridiculous nostalgia tip (summer is probably to blame), I'd start a 4 part segment on my favorite songs I got geeked up to when I was a wild and reckless little shit. Not condoning drug use here, kiddies. Well, kinda. I do blog under the name MDMAwesome for a reason, haha.

Seriously though, I've left that kind of craziness behind me, but hopefully you'll enjoy these as much as I have, under the influence or not. Stay safe.

E-40 ft Keak da Sneak- Tell me when to go (Trackademics remix)

It would take me quite a bit of time to really explain the intricacies of the late Hyphy movement, so I'll skip it. To make it as simple as possible, it was started by the late, great Mac Dre, and was almost completely focused on rapping about extasy and 'going dumb', which is rather self explanatory. This was a huge hit in 2006, and for those who have never heard it, you've missed something great.

Hyphy was a really innovative and hilarious (if a bit narrow-minded) scene, and it's a shame that it self-cannibalized. This is Trackademics' remix of Tell Me When to Go, and is definitely one of the greatest rap remixes of all time, in my opinion. This shit is a thumper, son. No one has blogged about it for quite a while, so in the interests of preserving great tunes, here you go. Back into the collective consciousness, baby. [I've included the video for the original tune so you can see what he's done to the beat. And, if you've never heard of hyphy, it'll give you a little insight into the whole scene.]



The Pack- At the Club

Before Lil B The Based God blew up on the internet, he was 1/4 of Bay Area hyphy group The Pack. These dudes were sort of scarily ahead of their time, rapping about skateboards and vaguely hipsterish stuff, wearing vans and streetwear many years before it became the norm. They are most famous for their hit Vans, but this is the one that always got my head shakin' and body movin back in the day. They are even beefin with the weak-ass New Boyz, who basically jacked their entire swag from the Pack. Hyphy trumps Jerkin any day of the week. This beat goes fuckin' hard, and everyone really comes correct. Plus, that chorus...oof.

D4L- Do It Like me Baby

They got a hell of a lot of flak for the terrible Laffy Taffy, but D4L made some of the best tunes that came out of the extasy-influenced Atlanta Snap music scene. Including a rather awesome whistle backdrop and twitchy keyboard lines makes this one of the most memorable snap tunes about getting geeked up, which is a feat considering that most were instantly forgettable. Oh, and FABO. I saw a video of him recently, and let's just say that the human body cannot handle prolonged heavy abuse of MDMA. Whoa.

E-40 ft Big Boi & Big Gipp- Ham Sammiches and Coupe Devilles

A-Town meets the Bay Area. This is a rare cut that features three veteran rappers over a Dungeon Family production. The little choir vocals on the chorus complement the groovy and bouncy bassline so well. This is swagger personified, three legends spitting great verses over a beat made by my favorite rap producers. Hope you dig.

Shawty Redd ft Big Gipp- Drifter

For those who don't know who don't know who Big Gipp is, type "Goodie Mob" into google, and learn a little something. He is a member of one of the most influential Southern rap groups of all time. That shit wasn't only rap, it was practically ghetto gospel. Then again, what do I know. This particular song features amazing producer Shawty Redd handling production and rapping duties, with Big Gipp filling in for a verse. Although this song is old, it represents a certain innovation in rap, back when "Vibe Music" was killin' it. If romantic ballads were written in strip clubs, they would sound like this. (Note: Snoop Dogg loved this song so much he asked Shawty Redd to make a similar kind of beat for him to rap over. That song is called Sexual Eruption)

Seventeen Veins- Viper

We've already mentioned fantastic duo Seventeen Veins before, but they've just uploaded a few new songs to their soundcloud, and they are dope as hell. Seventeen Veins, out of our very own Montreal, are maestros of a genre they call brutal minimal. If mad scientists made house music, it would probably sound like this. So far, I'm loving everything I've heard from these guys, and they are remixing "That tree" by Kid Cudi & Snoop, so keep an eye out for that. Support local talent!

the2000- Wouwo (the Stereo Youth remix)

Well, the2000 have gotten quite a bit more popular since our first post on them, deservedly. This time around, Swiss electro duo The Stereo Youth handle remixing duties, and do a brilliant job. Their remix compliments the2000's trademark ADD electro sound quite well. Instead of evoking a crammed dimly lit rave, the2000's sound gets transported to the middle of the jungle instead. Any song that samples The Usual Suspects (I think that's what it is), wins me over, though.
